This historic retrospective brings the music and contributions of Krupa into focus, with rare footage from the 1940's and still photographs documenting Krupa's career. Featured is an interview with Krupa himself, commentary from Louie Bellson and narration from Steve Allen. Clips of Krupa playing with some of his most celebrated colleague are also represented here - including Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Teddy Wilson, Anita O'Day, Roy Eldridge, Red Rodney, "Big" Sid Catlett and Charlie Ventura - on tunes like "Sing, Sing, Sing", "Let Me Off Uptown" and "Big Noise From Winnetka". The tape culminates in a flat-out drum battle with Buddy Rich and chronicles one of the legends of jazz and drumming: Gene Krupa.
