| This compilation of broadcast recordings features selections from several engagements. The early Krupa band days are represented by a beautiful version of "My Prayer," featuring the underrated singing of Irene Daye, and by other tunes from this period originally broadcast on the "Young Man With A Band Show." There are also live selections from a 1943 show at the Panther Room of the Hotel Sherman in Chicago. The band here swings elegantly on "Blue Skies," "Drum Boogie," and "Wire Brush Stomp" among others. Though some of these recordings derive from amateur sources, Gene Krupa and His Orchestra is still a very enjoyable listen. | |||
